From 2002 to 2011, I tried my hand at independent filmmaking. My good friend Lou Moulton and I established Beyond Main Street Productions. Between the two of us, we made eight short films, one featurette, and two 4-second shorts. 2 of the shorts won awards at local film festivals.
In 2004 we founded the Extreme 2-Day Film Festival in Omaha, NE. Similar to other 48 hour festivals, entrants had 2-days to write, shoot, edit, and turn in a completed film no longer than 7 minutes. The festival was a tremendous success and paved the way for other similar festivals in the area.
